Healthier SG is an initiative launched by the Singapore government in 2023 aimed at improving the overall health and well-being of the population, by encouraging Singaporeans to select a General Practitioner (GP) that they trust, as their primary health care provider.
By doing so, they can receive subsidies for their blood tests, medications and other care services required. They can also have the benefit of seeing the same doctor each time to ensure continuity of care and that they will be seeing a doctor they are comfortable with.
This enables GPs to provide the same level of care that polyclinics can provide, at similar subsidised rates, but with lesser queue times and more continuity of care.
The three main pillars of Healthier SG are:
1. Screening and Management of Chronic Conditions
Diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol are prevalent in Singapore, and many cases remain undiagnosed.
Healthier SG provides subsidised screening (blood tests) for above conditions as well as subsidies in the management of these conditions (e.g medications).
On top of the three diseases mentioned above, there are a total of 23 chronic disease conditions that patients can receive subsidised care for at their Healthier-SG enrolled clinic.
2. Vaccinations
Vaccination is an important part of preventive healthcare.
Healthier SG seeks to champion this by subsidising vaccinations such as Influenza and Pneumococcal vaccinations for eligible Singaporeans.
These vaccines are completely free at your Healthier-SG enrolled clinic should you be eligible.
3. Cancer Screening
Cancer screening is another important part of preventive healthcare. Healthier-SG will subsidise the following cancer screenings, in line with national cancer screening guidelines.
Males:
- Annual stool occult blood test above the age of 50
Females:
- Annual stool occult blood test above the age of 50
- Mammogram every 2 years above the age of 50
- PAP Smear (HPV DNA test) every 5 years
